Planning - classification

For our film, we have agreed that the target audience should be at the age of 15-30. This means we must consider age restricted material for the age rating of a 15. We chose this age rating as it allows a younger audience to watch our film, and also relates to the characters set up in the narrative. Because our target audience is 15, it means that we can generate a younger target audience without being too young so we have to restrict our material.

According to the BBFC website, what we can include in our film includes;

- Strong violence (should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury, however, and the strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable).

- Strong threat and horror (as long as there is no sustained focus on sadistic or sexualised threat).

- Discriminatory language or behaviour.

-Frequent strong language.

We have considered this into our narrative and made sure that we focus on the tension created instead of the gore. Things we cannot include that would be included in an 18 involves;

-Strong horror.

-Strong blood and gore.

-Scenes of sexual violence.

Even though our film is quite gory and violent, we are not going to include anything that young adults and teens would find too disturbing, and we are also not including any sexual violence or any content relating to sex, drugs or alcohol.
